Latest Updates from Our Project:

All Kickstarter rewards are on their way! Plus, some helpful FAQs.
about 6 years ago – Tue, May 01, 2018 at 10:29:12 PM

Rumble Jaristas,

Time to celebrate! All Kickstarter rewards are officially out the door as of this afternoon. Now...we know our original goal was to have them all shipped out by the end of April (i.e. yesterday), but after an unlucky mail server outage yesterday, the final few packages were pushed back until today. Since cold brew season unofficially started today, hopefully the affected folks can find it in their hearts to forgive us!

We've seen some great photos from backers with their new gear. But we're getting greedy, so we want more! If you're willing and able, feel free to share your pretty product photos or shots of your Rumble Jar in action. Feel free to tag us, or just email them to us and we'll post them anonymously.

Questions? We've got answers. We've put together this FAQ page on our website. Right now, it's raw, a tad ugly, and in need of some edits. All of that will be happening soon (in conjunction wth a design overhaul for the whole site), but for now the FAQ section has loads of helpful content that will tell you more about cold brew, and specifically, using your new Rumble Jar. Consider it a handy resource if those quick instructions on your brown hangtag were a tad too brief for you. Also, we've added a more detailed set of Rumble Jar instructions to the website (same applies about still needing a bit of polish).

And as always, we're here to help too. Just shoot us a message here on KS or here on our website if you have a question that our FAQ page doesn't answer.

First batch of Rumble Jars shipped yesterday!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Apr 20, 2018 at 10:53:52 PM

Rumble Jaristas,

A super quick update to let you know that the first few Rumble Jars started shipping out last night! It even looks like a handful of those ~100 packages have already been delivered today. We still have a lot more packages to ship out this afternoon and early next week, so yours could still be a few days away from shipping. So you know how our team's fulfillment process will work, we're grouping similar packages together in order to minimize pick-and-pack errors. For example, everyone who selected a green cap + traditional jar + Peanut Butter GFB will all have their packages shipped on the same day.

How will you know when yours has shipped? We're sending out tracking numbers via Backerkit, so you should receive an email containing your tracking number. FYI we still haven't had time to send out the notifications from last night's shipments, but we'll be doing that later today when we get a few minutes.

Surveys, shipping and surprises
about 6 years ago – Sat, Apr 07, 2018 at 02:05:22 AM

Rumble Jaristas,

What's shaking? If your answer is "my Rumble Jar in just a few short weeks", then congratulations because you're both prescient and really good at Dad jokes!

Surveys - Two key dates and one last call

Monday, April 9: We will officially "lock down" survey selections. So consider this a last call to change your reward selections and pre-order any additional Rumble Jars (or other add-ons) that you want. On Monday, we'll lock down the survey responses and charge your credit card for any add-ons you've purchased.

Wednesday, April 11: We will lock in all of your shipping addresses. At that point our fulfillment team can get started preparing all of your shipments.

So... Have you recently moved, or will you be moving very soon? Do you want to send your package somewhere else? Now's the time to make those changes! If you need to check or modify your address or other reward selections, you can head on back to your survey by clicking the link in your original email from Backerkit, or otherwise you can request your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page.

If you've already completed your survey and have no changes whatsoever, you're good to go and don't need to do anything!

And if you respond to the survey after our survey lockdown date of 4/9, no worries! You'll still be able to fill it out and make your reward selections, but your package will go to the back of the line and won't get shipped to you until all the other ones have gone out.

Production update

Sorry for starting off this update so abruptly by yelling about key dates and action items and lock-downs and awesome Dad jokes. Just wanted to make extra sure that stuff was right at the top before we started waxing poetic about our progress. Onwards with the production update...

caps + caps + caps
caps + caps + caps

In the last update we told you the metal filters and silicone caps were floating on the Pacific. Happy to report they stayed afloat all the way to California and even managed to hitch a ride on a semi-trailer to get dropped off at our warehouse (dad joke #2). So now we're officially ready for assembly! Starting next week, our team will be pairing all those filters and caps with their empty Mason jar brethren to make beautiful new Rumble Jars! Once we have those Rumble Jars assembled, they'll then be handed over to our fulfillment team who will pack your individual shipments (including any of your add-ons/GFB bars/coffee) and send them your way! When will that be? We're aiming to have the first rewards out the door and on their way to you towards the end of the week of April 16.

About that surprise...

Finally, in our last update we hinted at a little surprise that would be coming with every Rumble Jar. No, it's not a $100 bill (dad joke #3). But by getting a little creative while exploring our packaging options, we realized we could include a second-stage filter with every single Rumble Jar. So when you receive your Rumble Jar, you'll find it nestled comfortably inside of a 100% cotton filter-bag. DO NOT THROW THAT BAG AWAY! That bag functions as a pretty fantastic (and totally-optional) "second-stage" filter.

Useful packaging! Our 100% cotton filter-bags work really well as second-stage filters.
Useful packaging! Our 100% cotton filter-bags work really well as second-stage filters.

So what's the process like using the second-stage filter-bag? Once you've brewed a batch of cold brew in your Rumble Jar and removed the filter+cap component, you can add an optional step where you use the filter-bag to strain your batch of cold brew a second time to remove additional silt/sediment and produce a clearer-looking brew. Isn't this extra step time-consuming and anti-Rumble Jar simplicity? Perhaps...and that's why it's completely optional. But we also spoke to a few folks who preferred a clearer-looking cup of coffee with as little sediment as possible, so this extra filter is really there for those folks. You may find it helpful if you only have finely-ground coffee available, since that tends to produce more silt/sediment than the coarse grounds recommended for cold brew.

Personally, neither of us use the second-stage filter all that often because we mostly brew with coarse grounds, and we also don't mind a little sediment at the bottom of the cup. But if you use finer grounds and want a surefire way to get rid of extra sediment, give the secondary filter a go! And if you have no need for a second-stage filter, you can always repurpose it as a bag for like, storing stuff.

Enjoy the weekend!

Shipping update: Filters are rumbling across the sea!
about 6 years ago – Tue, Mar 06, 2018 at 10:18:49 PM

Rumble Jaristas,

Good news!

But before we get to the good news, please please (pretty) PLEASE fill out your survey if you haven't already. It looks like we've got ~80 backers kind enough to support us but who still haven't filled out the survey. If you're one of them, just search "backerkit" in your inbox and you should find it. If you need us to email the survey to a different email address, please message us and let us know. Remember: the survey is how we collect your shipping address, so without that, it's impossible to get you the goods!

And now for the good news: the metal filters and the silicone caps have shipped from Taiwan and are currently floating their way to the US! We had been told that our manufacturing partners were coffee device experts, and judging by the samples they sent us from our production batch a couple weeks ago, they certainly seem to be living up to their reputation! The filters look beautiful, work perfectly and most importantly, brew delicious cold brew. This is a major milestone and a huge sigh of relief for us.

Timing-wise, we're still good for our April delivery date! The filter+caps should be in our hands and ready for assembly by the end of March. We've lined up a US-based assembly team to combine the filter+cap with our US-produced Mason jars as soon as they arrive to our warehouse. Also, our packaging design has been finalized and will be produced and delivered to us in a couple weeks, before the filter+caps arrive so they don't cause a delay. At that point, we will package the Jittery John's coffee (which will be roasted at the very last-minute to ensure maximum freshness) and the GFB bars (the order for those has already been placed) and any add-ons along with the Rumble Jars, and they should hopefully all be out our doors and heading your way by the second week of April. Fingers crossed!

So far so good.

Last but not least, every Rumble Jar will now be coming with a *surprise* that was not a part of the original package in our Kickstarter campaign. Without giving anything away (and because we want to have something to talk about in future updates), this is an item that can be useful for making cold brew, but it is entirely optional and up to you whether you use it. Ah the suspense!

Thanks everyone! Feel free to message us if you need anything or have questions.

Best,

Hans & Karl

Survey time!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Feb 02, 2018 at 06:36:14 PM

Happy Friday!

As promised, we've officially begun the process of sending out the surveys to everyone! (FYI "surveys" are the emails that we use to collect your preferences like cap color and shipping address). We settled on using Backerkit to send the surveys, since their platform is robust enough to manage all of the custom requests we received from backers during the campaign (and we received quite a lot of them!). Plus, it also allows you to add an extra Rumble Jar or two to your order at the special discounted Kickstarter price, just in case you need another as a gift for any coffee fiends in your life! So, we're hoping that this survey system will handle most of the requests we received, but as always, please send us a message with specific questions or issues and we'll do our best to get it sorted.

Most people won't have received the survey just yet, so don't worry if you're not seeing it in your inbox right now. Backerkit starts by doing a quick test to a smaller pool of backers to make sure everything's working OK. Then, after a day or two of making sure it's working well, we'll then send out the survey more broadly to everyone else. Just wanted to let you know in case you haven't received the survey email.

Scroll to the bottom of this update so you can check out the photo of our cap in the new Kickstarter Green color! As a reminder, this color was unlocked when we hit our first stretch goal, and this is the first time we've shown an actual real-life sample of it. Should be helpful when you're figuring out which cap color to select!

Read on for more info about the survey...

First, a quick reminder for international backers: as we mentioned in our campaign, we won't be able to send food (i.e. GFB breakfast bars) or coffee (i.e. Jittery John's sample packs) internationally, but we did adjust our international shipping rates down a bit to compensate. Just wanted to note that again, since one of the questions will ask you for your breakfast bar flavor preference, but that will apply to US backers only. Thanks for your understanding!

Next, it’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards. You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like.

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://rumble-jar.backerkit.com/faq.

Feel free to message us with any questions. We're here to help!!!
